Overview

This is a packaging concept for CocoLoco Choco Co., an artisan bean-to-bar chocolate brand. I designed the wrapper for its A Twist of Strawberry bar, a 70% cocoa milk chocolate with fruit and nuts, covering the front panel, back panel, wordmark and supporting type.

Challenge

A chocolate bar has a few seconds on a shelf to say what it is. The wrapper had to signal the flavor instantly, feel handmade enough for an artisan product, and still leave room on a narrow back panel for a product story, ingredients, net weight, batch number and a barcode.

Approach

I built the front around a single hand-drawn strawberry, cropped large at the bottom of the panel, with loose white seed marks scattered up through a red gradient. The condensed CocoLoco wordmark sits at the top with Artisan Chocolate and the cocoa percentage set in a friendly rounded sans. For the flavor name I used a heavy slab serif, then carried it onto the back at a huge scale, running off the edges, so the two sides feel like one continuous wrap. The back panel keeps the copy short: a product description, ingredients, and a small information block at the base.

Outcome

The deliverable is a complete front and back wrapper design for the strawberry bar, shown as flat-lay mockups with foil-wrapped and unwrapped chocolate and as a standing product shot in front of an oversized wordmark.
