The Rice Bowl Social Media Design

Overview

As Digital Marketing Specialist at The Rice Bowl, a Chinese restaurant in Lahore, I designed the visual system for its Instagram feed. The work covers pinned information posts, story highlight covers, seasonal promotions and a run of illustrated menu tiles, all planned so the profile reads as one coherent grid rather than a stream of unrelated posts.

Challenge

The account had to do practical work, telling people where the branches are, what is on the menu and that the restaurant delivers, while also making the food look appealing. Promotions such as Ramzan combos and a new branch opening needed room without breaking the look of the grid.

Approach

I built the feed around a small set of color fields: teal and orange for the pinned utility posts, red and saffron for promotions, and a black series with flat illustrations of shrimp, noodles, rice bowls and chopsticks. Copy stays short and lowercase, like "you can have it with rice" and "or half n' half", so each tile reads at thumbnail size. I planned posts in rows of three so neighboring tiles connect, mixed in food photography to break up the graphic tiles, and designed matching highlight covers for Discounts, Deals and each branch location.

Outcome

The result is a complete Instagram presence for The Rice Bowl: three pinned posts for locations, menu and delivery, branch opening and combo promotions, an illustrated menu series, and highlight covers for each branch and offer. I designed everything in Photoshop and Illustrator and presented it here on phone mockups of the live profile.
