Overview
I designed a custom icon set for The Rice Bowl, a Chinese restaurant in Lahore where I worked as Digital Marketing Specialist. The set has sixteen square icons covering topics such as menu, delivery, deals, reviews, community, Ramzan, drinks and cooking, plus a location tile for each branch: Johar Town, Defence, Bahria Town and Gulberg.
Challenge
The restaurant's social content covered many different subjects, and it needed a way to label each category at a glance. The icons had to feel like one family, match the brand's dark and orange look, and stay readable when shown very small on a phone.
Approach
I set every icon on the same charcoal square and limited the palette to white plus a warm orange gradient. White carries the main shape and orange marks the detail that tells the story: the cloche carried by a running waiter, the star above an open hand, the flames under a wok, the stripe on a payment card, the seam on a cricket ball. Shapes are solid and rounded with generous space around them. For the branch tiles I used the brand's bowl-and-chopsticks mark above each area name in bold white capitals.
Outcome
The result is a set of sixteen matching square icons: twelve topic icons and four branch location tiles. Because they share one background, palette and stroke style, new categories or branches can be added in the same format.
